This package contains the System BIOS image (BIOS Family 786F3) and local and remote BIOS flash utilities for the HP xw4600 Workstation. These utilities can be used to restore or update the System BIOS. System BIOS is operating system independent. NOTE: To determine the BIOS family and BIOS date, press F10 on the target workstation during Power On to run the Computer Setup Utility, and then select File/System Information. This information can be saved into a text file on a diskette or on a USB flash media device by selecting File/Save to Diskette. In order for a USB flash media device to be recognized by the workstation, the device must be attached before the workstation is Powered On. ENHANCEMENTS: The following enhancements have been added to BIOS version 01.16 since v01.15 (SP41855) was released: - Adds OEM activation support for future Microsoft Windows Operating Systems. - Adds additional boundary checking to improve the reliability of writes to flash ROM. No enhancements have been added to BIOS version 01.15 since version 01.14 (SP40652) was released. No enhancements have been added to BIOS version 01.14 since version 01.13 (SP40095) was released. The following enhancements have been added to BIOS version 01.13 since v01.11 (SP39231) was released: - Adds BIOS support and microcode updates for new processors. - Adds SMBIOS table support for fan speed and temperature sensors. FIXES: The following fixes have been made in BIOS version 01.16 since version 01.15 (SP41855) was released: - Corrects an issue that prevents the system from booting from the network following a Wake-on-LAN event. - Fixes an issue where the Linux kernel debugging tool "kdump" did not work properly. - Prevents a situation where Microsoft Windows tries to use USB ports that have been disabled from the Computer Configuration Utility (F10 Setup). - Fixes an issue where all SATA configuration information is not restored correctly following a resume from Standby (ACPI state S3). - Fixes an issue where Wake-on-LAN is not properly disabled when the network interface is hidden using the Computer Configuration Utility (F10 Setup). - Corrects an issue where hot-plugging a USB flash drive while the system is booting may prevent the system from booting from the hard disk drive. - Corrects an issue where the system stops responding (hangs) while loading Microsoft Windows if multiple keyboards are installed and keys are pressed. The following fix has been made in BIOS version 01.15 since version 01.14 (SP40652) was released: - Corrects fan control for the QX9770 Processor. The following fix has been made in BIOS version 01.14 since v01.13 (SP40095) was released: - Corrects an issue with pre-boot authentication password security.
