LocatePC 1.4.8
Set up LocatePC to send email to an address you can access without your PC. This could be a web-based email address (like Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, etc.), a friendТ‘s or relativeТ‘s email address, your work or home email address, etc. For most of the above POP providers, when youТ‘re setting up LocatePC, as soon as you enter the POP account email address, LocatePC will automatically enter the correct server address, port, and user name.
LocatePC doesnТ‘t work through proxy servers, so it canТ‘t be used on most corporate networks (it will warn you if you try to install it on a PC that uses a proxy).
LocatePC only works if a user is logged on to the PC. That means your PC must let someone log in without a password (on XP you can create a user account without a password or enable the Guest account, and then protect your files: log in to your original account, right-click My Documents, click Properties, click Sharing, and check Т‘Make this folder privateТ‘).
Since LocatePC is software, it wonТ‘t work if your PCТ‘s hard drive is bypassed. To help prevent this, some PCs can be set up in their BIOS to require a password before theyТ‘ll boot from anything other than their hard drive.
Features:
- Your computer may be traced and recovered using info in the message, including PCТ‘s IP address
- Hidden operation - no icons, popups, or copies of emails
- Password protected console window shows status - opens with hot key
